ORIGINAL: OCTOBER 2010
I have been thinking about how wonderful it is to get an invitation. To be seduced by the paper, entertained by the design, and being honored by the fact that my family was thought of in advance. #inawe.
I need to vent (a little) … I hate e-vites. I don’t hate them all the time…. for a small meeting, or a low-key thing, please send an e-vite. But for a birthday party, wedding, fancy dinner party?! NO. Honor your guests with a real invitation, a legitimate piece of mail. The e-vite cannot express the excitement, theme, or atmosphere of the event! I’m not saying we have to spend grand amounts on our child’s birthday invitations year after year, I’m saying be mindful of the theme and do something creative, if you don’t have the skill or the time, ask for some help! Maybe from Snazzy. We are inexpensive, creative and we have fun doing it!
For those out there throwing parties, weddings, shindigs: consider how you entice your guests, what they will SEE when they see the invitation. Will they see that you are inviting them to share in the joy of the event with a piece of computer paper, or a fun little ditty? With an envelope that reminds them of a bill, or a bright orange one?! A thoughtful invitation always wins. Not because it’s my “business” but because I have always enjoyed getting an exciting and creative piece of mail, and I’m sure most everyone else does too. Who didn’t like getting a letter from a pen pal? Much less an invitation?! Come on.
The celebration starts with the invitation!
